Have to say i have never read any Eddings, I will keep an eye out for one to try. I did read a couple of the thomas Covenant books years ago and thought they were a bit heavy going myself, but quite good.

If you're new to Eddings I advice you to skip the more popular Belgariad/Mallorean books and go for Elenium followed by Tamuli as they differ so much in quality. These books is far more mature and there's an odd thing so far that I'd forgotten. There's no fighting scenes, no he cuts when it comes to fighting and then when he start the next cut or chapter he describes how the fight went in past time instead of describing every slash and parry. I like that approach.

The Covenant books is really heavy to read and not that well written when you look upon how he uses the language, you get no natural flow when you read those books. Imagine then reading those books as the first books ever in English for one who don't have English as his/her first language. It was a bit hard for me but here I am, more or less fluent in English today more than 25 years later. I read more books in English than Swedish over a year and it's been like that for me over the last 20 years or so.

I will keep an eye out for those Elenium books, I tend to get a lot of my books from charity shops as money is a bit scarce and it does help out a worthwhile cause as well. A change in laws a couple of years ago means that supermarkets can now sell discounted new books for 1/2 price or so but that is just usually a handful of authors that feature in the book charts, luckily I do like a few of them. I do feel guilty about not supporting actual book shops and authors but I just can`t afford to, this is about the only way I can get my regular reading fix.

I hope that you'll find them as they're a good read. He's got a good command over the English language and that's always a good thing when you read a book.

You really seem to be on a run with the Eddings, have you just found a bunch of them or are they something you have been going to get round to for ages?
