Yom Kippur War by The Gamers
This is the pre-game set up. I've just finished my first turn (ever). I need to speak with the arty crews.

ASLSK #2
The next picture would show a pinned and a broken German next to my malfunctioned Bofors gun.

I like the counters on the Yom Kippur War game...really sharp; and I really like how they only designate heex coordinates every 5 rows! I've never seen the latter in any game, and it makes sense to not have the mapboard so "cluttered" with them.

I love that ASL can be played on VASSAL.

The only production issue I have with Yom Kippur is the glossy map. It makes it difficult to fold out. I wish it was a straight paper map that could lie better. But I play it on VASSAL so I'll live.

I tried ASL by post many years ago. What a nightmare. VASSAL is what enabled me to get back into the hobby.

I never understood how anyone could play ASL via PBem (either the old postal method or even VASSAL) given the detailed turn structure especially Movement/Defensive Fire.

ASL works fine with VASSAL for small scenarios. ASLSK works better. I've played about three ASL games and a dozen ASLSK games using VASSAL email. It just takes a little patience and a willingness to get moves that say things like, 'Stop if any unit is about to enter residual fire.' and movement phases that can take quite a few email exchanges when you're moving two or three units and then waiting for any defensive fire before continuing.

Here's another Israeli Independence picture for a game I'm running on a forum. It's a very simple game. Only takes 15 minutes to play. Longer if you read the cards, which is what makes it interesting and worth playing. Not everyone's cup of tea for sure. I also have We Must Tell the Emprorer, which is a more complicated game of the same series. I wouldn't mind grabbing others. Simple and quick.

This will probably end badly for one of us.
