I'm blessed that we're throwing out our old tree..... break out the wire-cutters...!!!!!

Another source of quick pine trees are Buddleia flower spikes. They're all dying off now so it's the perfect time to grab a handful if you can find a bush.

There's a great guide on how to turn them into different tree shapes here, they also cover making realistic hedges from scouring pads :)

I reckon pine trees would come out easy, just dry properly, spray with adhesive, model the pines a little upward & cover with flock (homemade with fine sawdust & green poster paint).
