Simple Stargate Platform

Postby Whiterook » Sun Jul 30, 2017 2:24 pm

For my Stargate SG-1 Miniatures Game, I have the completed Stargate, in 28mm pewter completed, but it needs to stand in something. I plan to build a much nicer platform at some point, but I decided to whip up a quick one out of air hardening clay.

The first stage involved sculpting the platform, using simple clay sculpting tools. The intent was worn steps to the platform, and a snug fit for the Stargate. I figure I can dress up the piece on a diorama with some cover and terrain elements, especially sand...which should make it look much better than the finished piece.

A base coat was made with chaep craft paint acrylics, in black....

And the finishing was just sand colored paint....

Like I said...nothing pretty, but it works!
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning
