That's a sweet tutorial. I've always wondered how that was done! I remember opening a non-shrinkwraped box at an estate sale and seeing the fenders of a truck literally burned, and thinking the owner must have been trying to figure out a technique.

The paper towel surprised me, but it makes perfect sense!
