Compressor psi

Postby Whiterook » Tue Sep 09, 2014 10:23 pm

I'll be jumping back into airbrushing again soon, after a year away, and I can't remember what I was setting for normal spraying psi. Any suggestions???

Yep...for general use I use around 15 or 20 psi and anything in between. For splatter effects go lower.
I use those settings on all paint types too.
Every part a masterpiece.

Excellent....that was what I thought I'd remembered. When I sprayed the white on the snow Coach, the compressor was still set to about 17psi, so I figured that was the range.

You can go wild with the air pressure so there's no real golden rule here. Higher pressure for thicker paint mix, you should be able to shoot most of our modelling colours undiluted direct from the can at say 40-45 psi if you want as well as you can mix it say 1:10 and go with 5 psi. Just go with what you prefer and that feels natural for you as well. Then there's the factor of air humidity so what's good for one user doesn't work for another. But generaly the consensus is 15-20 psi. What I'm trying to say here is that there's no rule on the matter written in stone.
