Turn 8 - Phase 1, Americans


The American commander stabs at the flank goes pussycat hunting! ....he received 3 APs:

1st AP....
Move 1x Sherman HQ platoon hex F8 > H9; Facing H8

* NOTE THE YELLOW DOTS FOR FACING

2nd AP....
Move 1x Sherman platoon hex E7 > G8; Facing H7

3rd AP....
Fire Sherman HQ H9 + Sherman G8 + Priest D8 @ Tiger I7 Woods
-------> Roll 2 + 4 + 3 Firing - 1 Target in Woods = 8 ATTACK; compared to Tiger's 11 DEFENSE
-------> RESULT: Tiger platoon = MISS

This is what our battlefield looks like at the end of this phase.....

Apparently THIS is the correct strategy. Good job figuring it out so quickly.

The German commander goes on the attack. He receives 3 AP's

1st AP....
Move 1x Panzer IV HQ platoon H2 > H4; Facing G5

* NOTE THE YELLOW DOTS FOR FACING

2nd AP....
Fire Tiger I7 + Panzer IV HQ I6 @ Sherman G8
-------> Roll 6 + 5 + 2 Firing = 13 ATTACK; compared to Panzer IV's 9 DEFENSE
-------> RESULT: Panzer IV platoon = KIA

3rd AP....
Move 1x Panzer IV HQ platoon I6 > G8; Facing F6


This is what our battlefield looks like at the end of this phase.....

Thanks. I've been getting great rolls when I desperately needed them, which has helped. The endgame strategy seems straightforward now, though my AP three just played is Loose Cannon. What I'll need to go back over is what the heck I did at the start of the game!

1st AP: Shermans in D4 road march to E6 (finally), facing F5.

2nd AP: Shermans in E6 and Priests in D8 fire at Panzers in G6.

3rd AP: Sherman HQ in H9 moves to G10, facing G9.

4th AP: Infantry in C7 move to D6, facing E6.

Oh man...I don't know what to say! I think (based on the rolls coming up for you) that you are jinxed with this scenario. I hope you're not getting frustrated with this one.

Well, sure I'm a little frustrated, but I love this game. It wouldn't be worth playing if it were easy. It was sure nice of you to finally have a bad roll and miss at the end. :D
