zvezda 1/35 R12 motercycle

Postby gibbs » Sun Jun 07, 2015 7:02 pm

While I'm waiting for some bits to turn up from Hong Kong I thought I'd do a bit on this to pass the time

I've got one of the figures done and have started work on the bike

So far I've got the engine finished and have started work on the front wheel assembly all I can say is I'm glad my first order from Hong Kong arrived while I was doing this as I can see why people like mr surfacer so much as the front wheel assembly seems like there's more of that then plastic

It's starting to go together it's been a pain as the fit isn't that great so I had to chop off some attachment lugs or enlarge some of the holes but it's starting to look a bit more like a motorcycle

I've got the vast bulk of the bike together and base coated I have certainly been able to notice that it's not a kit from a mainstream manufacturer as some of the bits have taken alot more chopping and filling to make fit than I'm used to

Another nice looking build, a bit different from the more usual bigger vehicles.

That's the second figure assembled, just a bit of filling to do with the mr surfacer later and it'll be ready for paint

The figure is now painted and fitted to the motercycle I've also managed to get the decals on I'm really glad I've now got microsol and set as the decals where really thick and luckily microsol was able to soften up enough so I could get a decent placement even if I had to work quickly so I could get the lid back on to get rid of the smell

I finished piecing this together today so it's pretty much finished unfortunately it no longer has the decals as they fell off over night and have disappeared but bar that I'm quite happy with the outcome

Hot Damn, I like this build! I've been wanting to do a motorcycle project for awhile now, so I'll be following this one with keen interest! The figures look nicely sculpted!!!

I have to admit, on first look, all I could think about was: I wonder if that driver has enough meat on it to do a conversion into a likeness of Steve McQueen from the Great Escape! I would fancy doing a diorama on that subject!

looking at this I flashed on the scene from the 3rd Indiana Jones movie. Looks very cool.
