Carro Armato Fiat-Ansaldo M13/40 Italian Medium Tank

Carro Armato Fiat-Ansaldo M13/40 Italian Medium Tank
Italaerei, 1/35 scale

This is an old build I started somewhere around May of 2011!!! I started to make some decent progress, as you will see over the next few posts to come, but then I got frustrated with it for some reason and in went back in the box. It was the first model I ever did that with....not completed and popped back in the box. With the IS-42 Snow Coach humming along nicely now, I will be digging this little beauthy out and finishing what I started. I've never had two models undeway at he same time....perhaps it is time to see wht that is like!!!

As I recall, I was building this beast as captured tank used as an Australian tank. Perhaps that thought process will emerge as I re-visit these old sitrep notes. It is an old kit, and not sure how much I will be able to make her shine but it's worth a go. I do know the tracks are pretty shabby looking...perhaps there are better tracks out there secondary market but I am not sure it would be worth the money?

Looking over my notes, I apparently was thinking along the lines of the fighting in Libya in 1941. The 6th. Australian Cavalry Regiment captured a number of Italian tanks (including M13/40's), which were taken over by Australian troopers and fought against their former owners. from some brief research, I am finding that some may have been shipped to the area in green but immediately had a wash of sand colored paint applied. Regardless of what my original thought process was back when, I think I will continue in that spirit and go with a Desert Sand color over a darker color, and then wash and chipping t expose the darker layers (theoretically) beneath.

First up was working on the roadwheels....all 36 of them!

These are real small, and foling takes a lot of time as there isn't much wiggle room to take too much plastic off from filing....plus, it's tough on the fingers, gripping! The will soon be attached to the under-carriage.....

Looks cool mate. It's an old classic this kit and starting to look a bit 'soft' in the detail department?
Keep it coming man...I wanna see her finished.
Every part a masterpiece.

Definitely not strong on details in molding, so I'll have to make up ground in painting and/or diorama detailing!
