OK, some situational pics. The first two are shots down field from the back of the German Left and Right Flank.....

German Assault Phase

A little Hell and fire rain down! First, the German Left Front.....

The Halftrack decides to send a little Lovin' the Bedford QL 3-Ton truck's way. Now you'd think this was a paltry shot, the Halftrack only getting to sling two dice...but the odds increased exponentially by the very fact that the truck was DISRUPTED, and so being pinned, suffered a -1 drm; well, the BQL has a Defensive rating of 1, now reduced to ZERO! The Halftrack scored two HITS, sending the truck and it's Engineer Squad boarded within to Valhalla....KIA.

post-344-12822559872389.jpg

Next up came incoming fire from the pond's edge to the pond's edge....those poor shellshocked fish are just about crapping themselves! :coffee:

First, the Armored Car 234 fires a mighty blow up the shoreline aimed straight at the Sherman M4A1 picnicing nearby; the shell richochetts off a rock, and....yup....kills another fish! DAMN! The Horror, the horror! Never in the course of human history have so many fish given so much, for so few (Sorry, Winston). Long Range 11 against Defense 5 wasn't enough for the day.

Undeterred, the Germans fire their Panzer IV F2 with the same range and factors, but the outcome is better this time....one HIT and a failed Cover Roll for the Allies results in a DISRUPTION. The Sherman is now Pinned and suffers a -1 drm to their Defense next turn.

The Armored Car then uses it's Strike & Fade Capabilities to move in back of the burning Tiger I to the left, gaining complete cover as the board currently stands.

post-344-12822559873542.jpg

Net result: One KIA's Bedford QL 3-Ton Truck and Engineer Squad; and one DISRPTED Sherman M4A1 now pinned, but enjoying some good fish.

Next comes the German Right Flank, and the big guns!

First up, the Panther opens it's deadly maw, and slings a screaming shot at the M36 MGC Tank Destroyer that has caused such problems, residing in the relative safety of the entrenchment. BOOM! Smoke billows from the M36 as a devastingly good dice roll send the TD packing. Long Range 11 against Defense 4 (-1 drm to the damaged M36) meant that six successes scored two HITS and a KIA. Nice shootin'!

post-344-12822559874107.jpg

Well, what the heck would the Hummel shoot at now? Hmmmmmm :coffee: Well, the M36 vacinity, of course, but a liiiiiiittle to the left! "But why, oh Mighty Game God?" you ask....well class: The Hummel has Blast Capabilities, which means anything around it within a certain 2" radius get's nailed separately too. That means the M1 Garand Squad came under fire first and was KIA, the BAR Squad next, and was DISRUPTED, and the very lucky Mortar M2 escaped unscated!

Movement was seen in the German lines as the Halftrack that was previously in back of the burning Halftracks......

post-344-12822559876344.jpg

....has now moved laterally to the right to take up a position behind the Villa Ruins......

post-344-1282255987692.jpg

And meanwhile, the Opel Blitz trucks with loaded infantry have moved up from behind the Panther and Hummel, to take up a position in the woods closer to the ruins. They used their entire Full SPEED to make that position, and are securly in the woods with absolutely no LOS to them.

post-344-12822559877432.jpg

Which leaves the Panther and the Hummel the lone units in the backfield. I am sure they are breathing much more easily now that the M26 is out of action!

So the Net Results on this side of the board are: One M36 MGC Tank Destroyer is toast; one M1 garand Squad is pushing daisies; and one BAR Squad is picking dirts and squirrel bits out of their hair and are sufficiently pinned and paniced....no fish for them!

The Allies have their Sherman by the pond on their Right Flank back at full strength. And they have resecured their territory and have stemmed the tide of infiltration for now.

Would this be a bad time to say the Allies are getting reinforcements in Turn 6?

A few extra shots....the Falschirmjagers are no more, but the Germans have dealt a good blow to the Allies front line.

Turn 6 - Initiative Phase Allies

Allied Movement Phase

OK, the Allies have had a lot to think about. This is the halfway point in the game, and it's going to really heat up here. Some real interesting choices presented themselves, and truthfully, the next turn or two could be critical.

First up, what's missing from the following picture?

post-344-12822561637619.jpg

Humbers!

Yup, they done moved out! They tore off for the front, and at full SPEED! They just cleared the wire, and have moved into position to help two other units that also moved forward:

The Mortar team, which moved out at full SPEED, forward just beyond the wire......

post-344-12822561638478.jpg

And the Sherman M4A1 that had been biding it's time guarding the gate on the Allied left flank....now taking position on the extreme left, peeking out of the apple orchard.....

post-344-12822561639036.jpg

post-344-12822561639589.jpg

The Allies moved their Mortars forward to protect their wire perimeter, both on the left flank....

post-344-1282256164014.jpg

And they also moved their Mortar from the right flank forward, and wisely, into cover! It had been pretty exposed previously, having had to brave the open in order to get into range, but now it's nestled in snug as a deadly bug in the rug.......

post-344-128225616412.jpg

Next to move is their deadly M18 Hellcat, pulling forward along the side of the Villa Ruin......

post-344-12822561640649.jpg

And, a wider, zoomed-out view across the pond......

And now, for the major movement...the largest scale move the Allies have had soince their reinforcement turn! Moving up to the pond is a butt-load of armor!!! The two Shermans parked in the road; the Sherman that was on the side of the farmhouse; as well as the Sherman that was in back of the farmhouse, all pull forward and belly up to the bar next to the pinned Sherman that was already there.

post-344-12822561642772.jpg

Pulling back however, the damaged Sherman Firefly pulls off of the line and heads for the rear of one of the farmhouses, totally out of sight of the Germans.....

Here's a long distance shot from in back of the Allied lines.....

post-344-12822561644603.jpg

And two shots from the Axis side looking down field at the Allies......

Axis Movement Phase

And the game resumes! The Axis team continues to probe and position, and in fine fashion! :)

First up, on the Axis Left Flank, the Damaged Panzer IV F2 plays it safe and pulls back off the line at full SPEED, keeping their better armor forward. Considering how the Allies stacked the pond with Shermans, this was a wise decision in my opinion...Kudos! It is now out of LOS of the Shermans.

Meanwhile, the Armored Car Sd. Kfz. 234/4 stays put......

post-344-12822561912667.jpg

Lastly on this flank, the Damaged Half Track presented an interesting choice to the Axis (which I would imagine that team debated the merits of) of: Move it to protection, with the Infantry loaded aboard; or dismount the Infantry, and hope whatever walloped it in the snout so badly last turn has fallen asleep (ahhhhh, I know for a fact that it's wide awake!). The decision? Dismount the Infantry and take their chances with the Halftrack. And before anyone says anything, I know the Allies were prepared for both options......

post-344-12822561913245.jpg

Next up, the power play! :?
The Panther growls menacingly forward to the left, heading straight for the pond. It's pissed!!!!

post-344-12822561913805.jpg

It stops with it's toes in the start of the bog......

Next up, the Axis Right Flank....

The Hummel stays put in place and valiantly faces the enemy

post-344-12822561914932.jpg

And in the forested area, the Infantry mounted on the trucks dismount......

post-344-12822561915495.jpg

while the Halftrack holds position to meet anyting peeking around the corner......

post-344-12822561916176.jpg

And the Infantry takes position (and a very good move, indeed!).....

post-344-12822561916746.jpg

This is really some amazing positioning....very exciting stuff!

Okie dokie....Amended Orders came in from the front. The Hummel throws it into full reverse, keeping it's snout facing forward. It now sits behind the total cover of the trees and is out of LOL, but that goes both ways at the moment......
