This is what I'm reading now, a book I found through a long search and am enjoying very much so far. I posted in Civie Books even though the plot has to do with the Contra War, because it's really character-driven, artsy literary fiction. I'm finding that's my favorite kind of novel, artsy literature with a healthy dose of action and international intrigue and/or war. This is shaping up to be my favorite novel so far.
"...military glory, that attractive rainbow that rises in showers of blood—that serpent's eye that charms to destroy..." --Abraham Lincoln, 1848
