RF4B Phantom Jet

Postby Whiterook » Tue Sep 02, 2014 7:43 pm

I had a friend at work, who I knew was going to retire soon. He was a real nice guy, who'd started as a security guard at our building and worked his way eventually, to the department I was working in. He's a Marine who flew this particular bird, and I'd decided I was going to build it for him as a retirement gift, and thank you for his service. I hedged for some details directly from him, saying I was working on a wargame design and could use some of his advice on flight maneuvers, and I was able to find out the carrier he flew from, and hos plane designation. I even found a reference photo!

This was also a chance to try out some seam weathering with a new chalk method I'd run across earlier. The build was done on a strict timeline to make his retirement date, and this included ordering some amazing decals to match. This is the result!

Ripper mate. I don't remember seeing this one finished. Please refresh me. Is it 1/32 by chance? Looks big.

Tricked out with actual plane decals for the bird my friend flew in. I feel it one of my better pieces, build-wise; but it's a kharma-kit as, it was paying it forward to someone that put it all out there off of carriers as a bad-ass US Marine Pilot at war.
