Cool, how's it going so far?

Well, it was going much better until I sliced my right palm open right at a fold. OUCH! Guitar on hold for a week! But...I am inspired by what this brings to the instrument.

Back in the strings! Oh, and I bought a new iPad App....Songsterr...which gives me access to 500,000 tabs and chords; but the real beauty of the app is a built in midi component that allows me to play the notes on the actual instruments used, at different speeds and loops...the loops allowing me to learn by a few measures at a time. A very nice app!

I have a friend who plays the Classical guitar, and he is very much on again off again, and I now know what that is like. Life seems to throw me in different directions, but that is just an excuse when you come right down to it.

So that said, I took the axe off the wall yesterday and spend some quality time cleaning and tuning it....and started working on U2's, All I Want Is You. Nice to be playing again! (The calluses are gone so, it's certainly not comfortable but, been there done that...they will be back!)

Been a long time since I picked up the guitar. I'm REALLY missing it a lot. The latest plan is to download an online service this weekend that allows me to download two songs a month, with video instruction, and the further ability to download chords/tabs/lyrics.

I still believe self-teaching is the way to go. I was a music teacher for near-2 decades, so I know I can do this solo....I just need to get off my arse and do it!

Music teacher? Didn't know that. Go for it!

I took a year off, myself. My guitar got worn out from so much playing at church. I quit that gig soon after our third kid was born and just stopped playing for a while.

Then someone gave my friend a new acoustic guitar and he sold it to my wife who gave it to me last Christmas. I've been practicing a lot and will be playing my first open mic with it tonight!
