Vietnam War Strategy Game 1965-1967

Postby rcleary171 » Tue Apr 11, 2017 9:22 pm

Hi Group,

I've been working on a strategy wargame that explores the the Vietnam War. I've never done anything like this before but I decided to give it a try.

My question: would this be the place to share what I have written and get feedback? Being new here I feel I should ask first.

Thanks,
Bob

Yup....you nailed it! This would be the best place. The next borad below is for scenario development; whereas this board is for actual games. Best use is in sharing yur game idea; asking for input and advice; bouncing ideas off if us, etc.

We can probably, even offer some playtesting, if needed.
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning

I'll try to participate. Share away!

Thanks Whiterook and Josta59,

The link below shows what I've got so far. It represents only about three weeks of work but it was a very intense three weeks. I took a break and I'm going to start round 2.

This may seem a bit odd but I wanted to explore automating simple game rules and I will be adding more game features (i.e., more interaction between provinces, adding population density factors and fine tuning the relationship between political assets and victory points).

Any feedback is welcome and I will answer any questions. I anticipate many months of work ahead so any suggestions and criticism will be a big help.

For now the software is written in MS Access so if anyone is interested in testing the source I will be able to provide that.

Sincerely,
Bob

Wow! I don't have time to read it right now, and I'm not into computer algorithms much, but it looks really impressive!

I'm going to have to put some time aside to read this.

Thanks guys - any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

It has become apparent that this will not work as a board game (too much number crunching and too many actions per game turn). So, the software has been getting more attention. I'll just keep plugging away.

Bob
