Pocket at Falaise Vassal Module Creation Blog

Postby Duncan » Sun Apr 17, 2016 5:43 pm

I am trying my hand at Vassal. My first project is ATO's The Pocket at Falaise. I currently know almost nothing about creating Vassal modules and this should be interesting. There is a Cyberboard game box for tPaF but I find Cyberboard confusing and the map graphics are terrible.

My first step was to create and load a map. I found an excellent map on the ATO web site but it had no information panels. I cut and past the right hand and top left information panels from the Cyberboard map and pasted them to this much nicer map. I've set some map properties, such as zoom. So far, so good. The map is much larger than shown here. I shrank it to fit in the forum limitations.

Now I need to figure out how counters work.

I think that I have figured out how to set up pieces on the board. A lot of grunt work coming up. I found scans of the pieces of BGG and am currently cutting 176x2 (some have backs) pieces to port into the module.

Oh man....THANK YOU for starting this blog! I've always wondered what it take to build a mod. As many details as possible is appreciated more than you know :D
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning

ATO has given me permission to host this on Vassal once it is finished.
