What is your Top 5 list of most expensive collection of miniatures?

Postby Whiterook » Wed Oct 26, 2016 6:16 pm

1st Place: For me, without a doubt, it would be Axis & Allies Miniatures - land warfare. Somewhere in my game room, I have a full list of every mini I own. It's pretty massive! At the time, I was buying entire sets by the case...meaning, I was able to capture almost the entire set line in one fell swoop. I then filled in the blanks mostly, on the open market and conventions. I don't even want to know what the dollar amount tallied to, though I know it would be a source of immense pride and embarrassment combined  :o

Combined into this would be Old Glory and Flames of War miniatures, bought to supplement the above...especially for those units not available in A&AM.

2nd Place: Axis & Allies Miniatures - War at Sea is probably the second runner-up. No where as near the spending in that line, but I have a pretty massive fleet!

3rd Place: Battlestar Galactica - space fleet miniatures. If you look at my BSG thread, you will get a hint of what I am talking about there!

4th Place: DUST miniatures.

5th Place: Stargate SG-1 miniatures.

There are other miniatures lines I've bought into, but to a much lesser degree. The above 5 are pretty massive.
If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning

Don't want this to go unanswered, so...

I've never bought one!

I have a decent Bolt Action collection; Mostly British/Commonwealth (PBI, Airborne, Chindit, and Desert Rats).

Flames of War British PBI and Airborne/ German 21st Panzer Division... most will be converted to 15mm Bolt Action.

I have collected much of the older sets from the Western game, "Blackwater Gulch" and I participated in the recent succesful Kickstarter campaign which adds a Supernatural twist. I have been buying laser-cut buildings and other terrain items.

I have a plethora of 15mm AWI, Mex-Am War, ancient, medieval and fantasy miniatures.

Right, a quick look round to see if Glynis is anywhere she can see this.

Ok, it`s safe to say just how much I have spent over the years.

1st and 2nd have to be the Games Workshop games, WarHammer Fantasy Battle and 40K. I have been playing both for over 25 years and I dread to think how much I have spent though I am not sure which one has taken most of my money.

3rd has to be Flames of War.

Bolt Action is probably 4th.

Saga or Babylon 5 would be 5th.

And things should improve in this new fiscal year; I'm getting reliable help at work and life in general is improving. (knock on wood) ;)...

My most expensive would have to be my 20mm Battlefield Miniatures pewter(?) Late war Germans and American paras.

Second Axis and Allies minis.

Third would have to be soft plastic WW1 figures, favorite brands being Zvevda and Hat.

GHQ is said to be awesome stuff! I've never bought any from their line of wares. On the 20mm stuff...what do you you use those with (system-wise)?
