I think a player, acting as Commander, must utilize a fair amount of leadership skills. The point of wargaming is leading imaginary forces in battle....but I think of them as real men in a way, trying to put myself 'in the moment' ....that makes for a more realistic game. Otherwise, it's just slash ...

Ohhhhh, thank goodness the Black Hand are drawing a feint towards my position, when their true target are NATO. ;)

The sight of three armored platoons appearing over a ridge spurrned a collective comment from my armored car crews....."Oooooooh, Shi....." (They never made it to the 't')

I think they believe it gives their games away for free. If you can get the game electronically, and manage to get your hands on the rules, paying $50+ for a game starts to pale as an option for some gamers.

I've never played a "What-if" game like this but I have to say I really like it a lot. It's interesting to have a basis in WWII, yet go beyond it into fantasy/horror.
